IN THE ROVER TRADITION (1958) A film made for the launch of the Rover "3 Litre" (P5) Saloon. Using unusual archive material, the story of the Rover Company is told from the very early days of pedal cycle production, through the war years of jet engine and gas turbine development, to the design development and production of the new car. (25 minutes) ROVER REVIEW (1956) A 'newsreel' style production giving news from the Rover Company. Potential Turkish VIP customers are shown the assembly lines and given a demonstration of the JET 1 gas turbine car. The new Rover 90 is seen at the press day for the 1956 Motor Show at Earls Court. (3 minutes) HOW A MOTOR CYCLE IS MADE (1912) Recently discovered, this is the earliest known Rover film production, showing the manufacture and testing of the Rover Motor Cycles circa 1912. The models featured appear to be the 3 H.P belt driven machines originally introduced in 1910. A couple of machines are shown being put through their paces in local countryside, not always with the feelings of locals at heart! We see a 12 H.P Rover car chassis being tested on the same roads. (Silent black & white) (12 minutes) ROVER REVIEW (1958) More news from the Rover Company. A Rover 105S is seen returning by Silver City air ferry at Lydd in Kent after a successful Monte Carlo Rally entry. The Duke of Edinburgh visits the Rover factories at Solihull and Tysely. He is shown the production lines and drives the T3 Gas-Turbine Car on the Rover Proving Ground. (6 minutes)
Duration: 46 minutes approximately
