THE TRIUMPH MARQUE (1968)
An action packed review of the successes in international motor sport from 1953 to 1968 of the Triumph TR and Spitfire sports cars, as well as those of the Standard Eight and Triumph Herald saloons. Included amongst the rare footage is the TR2s record breaking run of over 124 mph on the Jabbeke Highway in June 1953, as well as highlights of the many company entries in the Alpine, Monte Carlo and Tulip Rallies, the Tour de France, and of course Le Mans. The excuse for this nostalgic journey through the archives of the Standard Triumph film unit is the introduction of the TR5/PI introduced in 1967. (30 mins 30 secs)
THE XXVth MONTE CARLO RALLY (1955)
The 25th Monte Carlo rally film is a bonus for enthusiasts, as it was previously thought that no print had survived. A team of Standard 10s from the factory give a truly impressive performance in this classic event. We join competitors for the run from GAP to the coast and see the strenuous mountain circuit and the exciting round the houses race on the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit. A delightful glimpse of the days when mainly amateur drivers competed in a variety of almost standard cars from Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire, Aston Martin DB2 and Alfa Romeo to Porsche, Ford and Riley. (30 mins 30 secs)
Original US television advertisements for the TR4A are featured between the films.
