BMC The Factory Films Ref: 1043 Price: 14.99
THE BRITISH MOTOR CAR (1963) This important production uses an extraordinary selection of archive film to give an historic overview of the companies that came together in 1952 to form the British Motor Corporation. The producers of this film discovered neglected and forgotten film in BMC factories and buildings all over the country. The footage they found formed the basis of today's BMIHT film archive. The BMC story is seen from the point of view of William Morris, later to become Lord Nuffield, and takes us through to the developments and production of the 1960s, including the Mini. Duration 20 minutes 40 seconds
BMC QUALITY (1962) A film made to counter the criticism of the quality of some BMC products. It is interesting to note the Mini being tested for water leaks after the much publicised problems of the early models. The producers go to great pains to show every aspect of the testing and quality control in the factories and laboratories, as well as destruction testing on military test tracks. Duration 22 minutes 20 seconds
FOR THE MARKETS OF THE WORLD (1961) A beautifully made film looking at the production of the many different vehicles in the factories of BMC, and how by 1961 it had become Britain's biggest single exporter. MGs, Austin Healey sports cars and other BMC vehicles are seen being loaded onto ships for export all over the world. Duration 20 minutes 26 seconds
