On Display

In the Centre's exhibition halls you will find more than 150 motor cars on display. They represent 100 years of motor manufacture in Britain from the many companies that have been part of the industry.  Some are still in business today, whilst others have long since disappeared.

Take a walk down the Time Road display where you can see how cars and roads have changed since 1900.  The colourful displays tell the story of the car, set to the back drop of the great events in history from the past century.

There is not just a great array of cars to see but many other items from Britain's motoring heritage.  If you want to know where you would have taken your car for repair in the 1930's, the Period Garage shows what a local garage from vintage times would have looked like.  Lord Nuffield's Office sets out the working place of one the most influential men in the motor industry William Morris, of Morris/MG. His modest office has been carefully recreated with all the original artefacts from his Oxford factory. Visitors can experience the sights and sounds from motoring history in the art deco Motoring Cinema, where films from the Trust's Archive are shown throughout the day.

The most important cars from the collection are on display for most of the year.  As it is not possible to show all of the cars from the collection, the selection of cars is changed from time-to-time and special exhibitions are presented on a regular basis.  If you are coming to see a particular car, please remember to check it is on display before you make your journey.

Please note that this list gives details of the vehicles from our collection on display in October 2004 it does not include cars on loan from other museums or private individuals and items currently not displayed.  For operational reasons the museum cannot guarantee that all cars will be on display at all times visitors wishing to see a particular vehicle are advised to telephone the museum on 01926 641188 for confirmation.
